Grief is a natural part of the human experience – a response to the deep love we feel for those who have passed on – but it can carry the deepest hurt and it can be the hardest to navigate with physical, emotional, mental and spiritual impacts that can be heavy and long lasting; I know this from personal experience.
Physically, we can experience digestive upsets, a tight chest, interrupted sleep, aches and pains, or severe fatigue.
Emotionally, we can feel guilt, sorrow, relief, rage, longing, fragmentation, anxiety, or numbness.
Mentally, we can experience brain fog, depression, intrusive thoughts, memory issues, or dissociation.
Socially, we may feel isolation, loneliness, over-responsibility, or loss of cultural reference points.
Spiritually, we may experience a loss of faith, existential questioning, fractured connection with ancestral lineage, identity shifts, or a yearning for deeper meaning or ritual.
In modern society a lack of supportive spaces, community connection, open and safe discussion, meaningful ritual, or simply just awareness around the multidimensional impacts of grief can all exacerbate the deep pain of loss.
I can’t promise to take away the pain of grief – no one can.
I can share with you therapies and tools that can assist with nervous system regulation, somatic and physical body support, energetic clearing and grounding, as well as guided processes that can help you to reconnect with an inner sense of resilience and purpose, while also offering a safe and supportive space of presence and empathic listening.
When I was navigating the double bereavement that left me an orphan at 19, I think what really would have helped me most at the time would have been to feel less alone. To have someone to talk to openly about what was going on in my mind and body, or even just for someone to sit with me in presence who could perhaps understand what I was experiencing – because the experience of grief can be a very complex one. I felt utterly isolated, with no one to guide me through the massive life transition that I had to move though, whether I was ready to or not.
Now 20 years on, I’m so grateful that I can hold a space of presence and support to those navigating their own unique grief journeys.
I’ve found myself in the room with grief with many of my Reiki clients over the years and now, as well as offering energy-based therapies and holistic support, I also have a structured and trauma-informed framework that allows me to professionally support grieving individuals in both short-term and long-term settings.
I envision a world where the sacred transition of grief is supported and those who are grieving are held in embodied presence, not treated with pathology or a one-size-fits-all approach. I provide a space where where deep healing is supported at all levels and meaning is allowed to emerge organically through open reflection and gentle guidance.
