How Your Dysregulated Nervous System Is Sabotaging Your Manifesting Ability (And 3 Steps To Fix It!)

 

Have you ever felt it?

First, you experience the initial thrill. The evidence of an incoming manifestation goal begins to appear in your reality:

You get the message…

The client books in…

Your calendar fills up…

The person says “Yes”…

The ‘Good’ that you have been seeking finally starts to show up in your world…

Then it hits you:

The tightness in your stomach…

The clenched jaw…

The whirling thoughts of doubt…

The contraction and fear…

These visceral reactions are signals from your nervous system that it has been triggered, because it’s not yet ready to ‘hold’ the new vibrational frequency that you’re calling in.

 

So, what’s missing?

You’re clear on what you want your new story to be and you’ve been taking some supportive, aligned action towards it, but if your new reality doesn’t feel safe to your nervous system, it will retreat. You will end up staying stuck, because your nervous system is still attached to the perceived safety of your old reality. This is why so many people who win the lottery eventually spend all of their fortune and end up back at the same bank balance, or why a big bill shows up after an unexpected financial gain. It can be a reason why people experience self-sabotage in their work, relationship or health goals.

Nervous system regulation is the missing piece that is needed to bring any manifesting process to full completion, especially if you have experienced prolonged lack and limitation or have been mired in unwanted circumstances for some time. If what you desire feels too far removed from what you’re used to, your nervous system will need a gentle nudge to feel safe in letting the ‘Good’ stay and the key to achieving this is to expand your capacity to not just receive, but HOLD the positive energy that is flowing into your life.

Here are three steps to get your nervous system on board with your new story:

Step 1: PRESENCE

Step one begins with awareness. Find a quiet space where you will be undisturbed for at least ten minutes. Bring to mind the incoming goal that has triggered your nervous system. Notice how it feels in your body. What sensations are showing up? Notice the feelings and thoughts that arise objectively, without wallowing in the emotional or mental energy.

 

Step 2: REGULATION

Let your shoulders drop, your jaw loosen. Take some slow deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your nose.

The Box Breath Technique activates the parasympathetic nervous system response and lets your nervous system know that you are safe. To do this technique breathe in through your nose for a count of 4, hold the breath for a count of 4 and release the breath for a count of 4, then (if it feels comfortable) hold the lungs empty for a count of 4, before beginning the cycle again. Repeat this for a total of 4 cycles of breath. If holding your breath is contraindicated, just breathe in for 4 and out for 4, or find a counted breath that suits you.

 

Step 3: AFFIRMATION

Now that you nervous system has experienced some regulation, it’s time to gently program in some positivity. Place one hand over your heart and one over your belly as you speak a mantra that resonates with you. For example:

I am WORTHY of receiving this “_____.”

It is SAFE for me to hold this.

I am OPEN to receive and hold all of the Good that is flowing into my life.

Gratitude is a simple yet powerful practice that can create a significant shift in your energy. It can be used to enhance any manifestation process, because not only does it raise your vibration and therefore improve the strength of your manifesting magnetism, but a consistent gratitude practice actually TRAINS your nervous system to expect good things.

Every morning upon waking and every evening before you fall asleep, list 5 things that you feel truly grateful for, no matter how small. Allow yourself to feel the positive emotion associated with the things that you are grateful for. The more you celebrate the Good already in your life, the more you are a vibrational match to more!
